About Take Home Pay Calculator UK
Take Home Pay Calculator UK is a free set of salary and tax calculators for people who are paid through PAYE in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our goal is simple: show you what actually reaches your bank account after Income Tax, National Insurance, pension contributions and student loan repayments, and explain how each figure is worked out.
What we offer
- A take home pay calculator for annual, monthly, weekly and hourly pay
- Tools for specific situations, including the tax code calculator, pro rata calculator, salary sacrifice calculator and student loan calculator
- Calculators for NHS staff, teachers, police officers and contractors working inside or outside IR35
- Salary pages that show the take-home pay on common salaries, such as £30k after tax and £50k after tax
- Plain-English guides to payslips, tax codes and deductions
How we keep the figures accurate
Every calculator uses the Income Tax bands, National Insurance thresholds and student loan rules published by HM Revenue & Customs and the UK Government for the current tax year (2026/27, which runs from 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027). We update the rates when the government announces changes, usually at the Budget and again before 6 April. You can see the exact rates and sources we use on our methodology page.
Independent and free
We are an independent website. We are not part of HMRC or any government department, and we do not sell financial products. The calculators are free to use and do not require an account.
Important note
Our results are estimates for guidance. Your actual pay can differ because of your tax code, benefits in kind, irregular pay or your employer’s payroll settings. For decisions about your own tax position, check your payslip and personal tax account on GOV.UK, or speak to HMRC or a qualified adviser.
